Vietnam’s Hoi An old town among world’s best hotel destinations

The list was made by world-renowned hotel booking website Agoda.com and based on the reviews submitted by the website’s users, who were also required to score hotels on a scale of 0 to 10 in six categories.

A hotel’s total score is an average of those points. Hoi An (Vietnam tour)ranked 10th in the list of 25 best hotel destinations thanks to its affordable price.

Cape Town was the list’s top spot with an 8.43 overall review score. The city’s hotels attract a huge number of travelers each year as they have comfortable service and room as well as good staff performance.

The Maldives grabbed the second place with an 8.33 average score while Zermatt, a village in Switzerland, ranked third with an average of 8.29.

Other destinations include Bruges in Belgium, Gdansk in Poland, Verona in Italy, Sunshine Coast in Australia, Durban in South Africa, Granada in Spain, Krakow in Poland, and Nagano in Japan.

In 1999, Hoi An was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO for being a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port from the 15th to 19th centuries, and for housing buildings with a unique blend of local and foreign influences.

Since then, Hoi An (travel in Vietnam) has been voted one of the top tourist destinations in the world by several tourism magazines.

It was chosen as the world’s best tourism spot by UK tourism magazine Wanderlust in January 2013.

In recent years the six provinces have launched multiple activities to preserve their tangible and intangible cultural heritages and have worked together to link localities in the region to boost their socio-economic growth. Nguyen Van Tuan, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said:

“To tap the region’s potential and advantages, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism asks the provinces to create masterplans and implement tourism programs by designing new tours and developing new tourist destinations. Localities should coordinate on projects which focus on exploiting tourism resources sustainably and responsibly with respect to the environment and strengthening personnel training to meet the requirement of linking with other key tourism areas, especially Hanoi.“
